Deadpool-Parodying Wayne Winston Gets the Spotlight in THE ALMIGHTIES #0 Variant Edition

With a cover spoofing Deadpool's debut in New Mutants #98, The Almighties #0 Variant Edn introduces a new member for the team of comedic super-heroes created by Sam Johnson (Geek-Girl, Cabra Cini: Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman) & Mike Gagnon (Classics Illustrated, Monkeys & Midgets).

“The Almighties made their debut parodying the Avengers, but we're taking the craziness up a notch now – introducing a character that's a parody of a parody,” says Johnson.

“Artist Graham Pearce is known on the indie scene in the UK, where we both hail from, for his comic book Sgt. Mike Battle,” continues Johnson, “and we're bringing his dynamic and comedic skills to the US here, as we serve up Wayne Winston's debut story, 'The Gimp with a Gob,' in the pages of The Almighties.”

The Almighties team formerly comprised a motley crew – armored (insecure) egomaniac Maxi-Tron; former downtrodden housewife Ms. F; cocky punk rocker Nite Fang; ex-black ops borderline-psychopath Mason; and take-out owner/Presidential confidante Stefanos. But the team disbanded after they discovered their benefactor was in fact an insane Neo-Nazi. Their debut missions caught the eye of The White House's Joe Cvborg, however – and Joe is looking to reboot The Almighties as his personal (off the books) strike force.

“Joe is not without reservations in bringing all of the, somewhat dysfunctional, Almighties back, though. And Wayne Winston is the replacement lined up, should any of them not make the cut,” says Johnson. “As a huge Deadpool fan, the challenge of parodying an already Over The Top character while also making Wayne his own man has been a fun one. And I guarantee, wherever you expect us to go with this character, you'll be surprised.”

Written by Johnson & Gagnon, illustrated by Pearce, Eleonora Kortsarz, Pablo Zambrano & Ron Gravelle, published by Actuality Press and rated 'Teen,' The Almighties #0 Variant Edition is out now, along with a 2nd Printing of The Almighties #1, and available at www.almightiesamass.com

“Johnson and Gagnon are having a great time and a lot of fun making this comic and it really shows!”
-Jack Morris, Blog the Blummin' Doors Off!
