Frank Darabont Stepping Down From "The Walking Dead"

Several sites are reporting that Frank Darabont has stepped down as showrunner for The Walking Dead while the series is in production for it's second season. The writer/director of The Shawshank Redemption was recently at the San Diego Comic Con to promote the AMC series.

It is unclear whether or not Darabont remains in some capacity, or if his second in command - Glen  Mazzara (The Shield, Hawthorne) will take over the reins. Deadline (who broke the story) reports that Darabont "never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series." The second season starts October 16.
