Bluewater Productions has been chosen by Simon & Schuster to produce a graphic novel chronicling the events leading up to the killing of Osama bin Laden. KILLING GERONIMO: THE HUNT FOR OSAMA BIN LADEN is written by journalist Jerome Maida and Bluewater President Darren G. Davis.
“This is an epic story nearly ten years in the making,” said Maida, “It's like a true-to-life Jason Bourne novel. And like those Ludlum books, it's a complex labyrinth of intrigue, danger and politics culminating in an action-packed ending.”
“Bin Laden is not a cartoon villain and this book is not a garden variety comic. And the book's heroes don't have super powers, but are courageous and well-trained men of the Navy's SEAL Team Six,” Davis said. “Just because we chose an illustrated medium to tell this complex story, doesn't mean it is treated lightly or gratuitously.”
The book, which was illustrated by James Boulton , was sold to Simon & Schuster subsidiary Gallery Books. This is Bluewater's first book dealing with a historic event. The publisher has published biographies on historic, political, media, and entertainment personalities. The 96-page graphic novel is slated for a Spring 2012 release.
This is not the first graphic novel to cover the mission. IDW has CODEWORD: GERONIMO out in stores now.
