Andy Serkis Signed On For PLANET OF THE APES Sequel

Deadline is reporting the Andy Serkis, who played Caesar in RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, has been locked in for the sequel. He has already filmed his scenes as Gollum for the two HOBBIT films and has stayed onboard as a second unit director for Peter Jackson. Director Rupert Wyatt and screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were already contactually signed to do a sequel. No word if actors James Franco or Freida Pinto will return.


An interesting bit of information as well - Deadline also says that 20th Century Fox will wage an Academy Award campaign for Serkis' performance as Caesar.
