She is best known for her DRAGONRIDERS OF PERN novels. McCaffrey became the first woman to win a Hugo Award for a work of fiction, and the first woman to win a Nebula Award. She has published almost 100 books, mainly fiction. She was inducted into The Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2006. Our condolences go her family, friends, and fans.
