Variety is reporting that Hans Zimmer has been brought onboard to score the upcoming Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL. Zimmer is no stranger to doing music for superhero movies - he's scored the Christopher Nolan BATMAN films (which probably gave him an edge since Nolan is producing). This will be the first time that director Zack Snyder hasn't used Tyler Bates as the composer for one of his movies.
It will be interesting to see (hear) which way Zimmer goes with the music. I'm a fan of the John Williams score (and his music in general) and admit it's a tough act to follow, but it's time to move on.
MAN OF STEEL is scheduled for a June 14, 2013 release.
