According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Mackie (THE
HURT LOCKER, MILLION DOLLAR BABY) is in talks to play Sam Wilson AKA Falcon in
the CAPTAIN AMERICA Sequel - THE WINTER SOLDIER. More than likely they will use
the Ultimate version who is an agent of SHIELD who uses a backpack with
high-tech folding wings to fly. In the main Marvel universe, Wilson was a
crime-fighting partner of Cap, not so much in the Ultimate universe.
This news comes after the announcement at San Diego Comic
Con of the Cap 2 title "THE WINTER SOLDIER." This is more than likely
referencing the Winter Soldier arc that saw Cap WWII buddy Bucky was in not
only alive, he has been brainwashed into being an assassin for the Soviet
Union.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is scheduled for a
April 4, 2014 release. Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson will be returning to
reprise their roles.
