IDW's ARTIST'S EDITION series continues in November with one of the Silver Age's most known artist - Gil Kane. He co-created the Silver Age versions of Green Lantern and The Atom and touched just about every character that had a comic during his time.
This ARTIST'S EDITION covers Kane’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN issue numbers 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, and 121. The stories included cover the famous LSD issues (which were not approved by the Comics Code Authority ), the introduction to the living vampire Morbius, and the death of Gwen Stacy.
“These Spider-Man stories by Gil Kane are the ones my generation grew up on,” said Special Projects EditorScott Dunbier, “The ones we read and reread until they fell apart. Now we can look at them with a fresh eye and see these stories as we never have before.”
ARTIST'S EDITIONs are printed the same size as the original art. While appearing to be in black & white, each page has been scanned in COLOR to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—for example, you are able to clearly see paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes, art corrections. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.
GIL KANE'S THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: ARTIST'S EDITION HC (216 pages, B&W, $125) will be in stores November 21st, 2012.
