Probably the fan favorite of THE AVENGERS movie is Agent Coulson. He's been in all the other movies leading up to this summer's monster hit, but unfortunately (spoiler alert) he dies in the film.
At a panel today during New York Comic Con, Clark Gregg made a surprise appearance and talked about his role as Principal Coulson on the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series. The surprises continued as director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige appeared by video and announced that Gregg will appear as Agent Coulson in the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot. Whedon is directing and co-writing with brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.
This is a great move here. As I said, the character has a big following and having him somehow involved in the pilot and possibly elsewhere in the series, whether we find out he's not truly dead, or bring him in as a clone (Life Model Decoy?), or just in flashbacks...will be an added bonus for the show.
Stay tuned...
