Just in time for the holidays, comiXology – the
revolutionary digital comics platform that recently crested over 100 million
downloads of comics and graphic novels – proudly announced today the
eagerly-awaited full release of the comiXology app for Windows 8. This brand
new full release gives comiXology fans the ability to make in-app purchases of
all their favorite comics and experience the innovative features of the
comiXology platform.
This full release of the comiXology app offers Windows 8
users the ability to read their comics using comiXology’s cinematic Guided View
reading experience as well as full access to comiXology’s store of over 30,000
comics and graphic novels from more than 75 of today’s hottest publishers, all
ready to buy in-app and download with a single tap. Windows 8 users also have
the ability to use Semantic Zoom to easily organize the comics you see in the
store for purchase.
“When the comiXology reader for Windows 8 launched we
knew there was more we could do with this operating system and now we’re
excited to show off what we’ve accomplished,” said comiXology co-founder and
CEO David Steinberger. “By making our amazing in-app buying, browsing and
reading experience interoperable with Windows 8, fans worldwide will have yet
another avenue to buy and read digital comics!”
“ComiXology was one of the companies that committed to
the Windows 8 platform early on,” said John Richards, senior director Windows
App Marketing for Microsoft Corp. “It has been great to see their app using
Windows 8 features in this updated release, especially in-app purchasing.”
