There had been rumblings the last couple of weeks about Gail Simone leaving BATGIRL, partially because her exclusive contract with DC had recently ended. Ms. Simone address these issues saying they are not true.
Apparently things have changed, but not of her own accord. In a tweet she posted earlier today, she informed her fans that she "was no longer the writer of BATGIRL." She found out via email last Wednesday from new editor Brian Cunningham.
"I honestly don't have the words right now to thank you all. I'm pretty choked up and it's all gratitude, not bitterness," she added. "It is baffling and sad, I will probably have a statement later today or maybe tomorrow. I am very proud of what we accomplished with Batgirl and it was an honor to get to write Barbara Gordon again. Love that dame."
The book has been a solid seller since the start back in September 2011 (ranked #36 in October).
