In a press release sent out this morning, F+W Media announced that the March 2013 issue (#1699) of COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE will be the last. The website (www.CBGXtra.com) and Facebook page will "exist as an archived resource administered by Antique Trader."
F+W based this decision on "general poor market conditions and forces working against the title’s sustainability including the downturn in print advertising and the proliferation of free content available online for this highly specialized industry."
COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE started up in 1971 and is the longest-running English-language periodical reporting on the American comic book industry. The magazine featured columns by Peter David, Tony Isabella, Mark Evanier, Bob Ingersoll, Heidi MacDonald, Beau Smith, and Andrew Smith to name a few.
You can read the press release here. This is a good magazine, I hate to see it go.
