Fresh of the success of IRON MAN 3, Shane Black has been hired to co-write and direct a new DOC SAVAGE movie! The script, according to The Wrap, is also co-written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
"We couldn't be more excited to be building a franchise from the ground up with Shane and this team," said Sony's President of Production Hannah Minghella. "Shane and Neal have a fantastic understanding of the character and a great take on the material and we can't wait to get this production up and running.”
Doc Savage is pulp magazine adventurer created by Lester Dent. The hero has a genius-level intellect, peak physical and mental conditioning, a skilled scientist, detective, and martial artist, a master of disguise and a photographic memory.
The only other Doc Savage film, DOC SAVAGE: THE MAN OF BRONZE, came out in 1975. The film was produced by George Pal (THE TIME MACHINE (1960), WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953)) and starred Ron Ely (best known for portraying Tarzan in the 1960's TV series).
