MAN OF STEEL: Biggest June Opening, Update On Sequel And Other DCU Films

DC/Warner Brothers' MAN OF STEEL apparently is having the biggest June opening weekend in history. Several sites, including Box Office Mojo are reporting that it has pulled in an estimated $125 million (Thursday through Sunday) domestically with another $25 to $25 million internationally. For the three day weekend it pulled $113 million, surpassing the previous record-holder, 2010's TOY STORY 3 ($110 mill). The official tally will come out tomorrow.

Speaking of the DCU's future, sources to Comicbook.com are saying the Superman sequel is being eyed for 2015 along with...a Wonder Woman film. The site is considering this rumor for now, but has heard this information from a few sources. According to their source, here is the tentative lineup of DCU films...

MAN OF STEEL 2 – Summer 2015
WONDER WOMAN – 2015
JUSTICE LEAGUE – 2016 or 2017
BATMAN Reboot – 2016 or 2017
JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK – Unknown

However, as this report was being written, an article from The Wall Street Journal says that Warner Brothers maybe eyeing a MAN OF STEEL sequel to be released next year. This seems to be a little far-fetched, but screenwriter David Goyer was already working on the film and Zack Snyder was returning to direct...maybe it's possible. I am not aware of the contract status of the actors, but I'm sure Henry Cavill was signed on to do multiple films.

Stay tuned...
