Gogii Games and Archie Comics are proud to announce the
long awaited worldwide launch of Archie: Betty or Veronica, available through
iTunes to iPhone and iPad devices.
The game launched in Canada in June, and within its first
day of launch, the Archie game cracked the Top 3 in Games and Top 5 overall in
Canada on the iTunes charts, paving the way for international success.
Archie: Betty or Veronica is a comedic, free-to-play
game. Inspired by the long-standing comic book series and transformed into an
interactive universe in the palm of your hand. It is slated for worldwide
launch on July 18, 2013 during Comic Con International in San Diego.
Archie Comics is the world's largest mass-market comic
book company, with more than 2 billion comics sold since debuting in 1941. This
story-driven game, with content created by Archie artists Fernando Ruiz and Bob
Smith, will feature all the classic and iconic elements of Archie's world, from
Riverdale High to his two love interests, Betty and Veronica -- not to mention
familiar faces like Reggie, Jughead and more.
"Game development is an interesting and ongoing
challenge from a technical and creative perspective and Archie Comics has been
an incredible partner," said George Donovan, president and founder of
Gogii Games. "Archie is an icon, and we have worked hard to create a
virtual Archie universe worthy of the brand and the fans. We know that it is
going to resonate with users."
The Archie Comics game will be uniquely accessible to
families and fans of the series, with a host of characters and locations
available to build a virtual, expansive and engaging environment. Developed for
multiple platforms, initially supporting iPad and iPhone, later versions and
updates will support Android, which means fans can access the game from a
number of devices.
