Variety is reporting that Frank Grillo (The Grey, End of Watch) has signed on to play Crossbones in the CAPTAIN AMERICA sequel. The villain is a mercenary who has operated as the right-hand man of the Cap arch-nemesis Red Skull. No word if the Red Skull will be in the film, but actor Hugo Weaving is on record saying he would not return.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER sees both Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Cap) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier) return, and are joined by Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Anthony Mackie (The Falcon).
The film is scheduled for an April 4, 2014 release.
