9th Circuit Court of Appeal found in favor of Warner Brothers regarding the copyright lawsuit against the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel. The ruling states that there was a binding agreement made in 2001 that gave WB the full rights to the Man of Steel. In October last year, U.S. Distict Judge Otis Wright III ruled that the heirs of Joe Shuster, Superman's other co-creator, waived any claim to ownership of Superman in 1992.
“Today’s ruling vindicates DC Comics’ long-held position that it entered into a binding agreement with the Jerry Siegel family in 2001. The Court’s decision paves the way for the Siegels finally to receive the compensation they negotiated for and which DC has been prepared to pay for over a decade. We are extremely pleased that Superman’s adventures can continue to be enjoyed across all media platforms worldwide for generations to come,” said Warner Bros in a statement Thursday.
Deadline has posted the ruling which you can read it here.
