Frank Cho, the acclaimed creator of "Liberty
Meadows," shares his secrets to drawing the lovely women he is renowned
for. His exquisite line and masterful brushstrokes are explored to give the
beginning artist, along with the most advanced professional, all the tools and
knowledge to draw beautiful women. No area is overlooked as chapters cover
demonstrations on how to draw the overall figure, then continue with the head,
hair, neck, torso, back, arms, hands, pelvis and legs through clear,
step-by-step procedures. Drawing Beautiful Women is enhanced by Frank's wit and
flair for entertainment, as he interjects humor throughout the book for a fun
and playful experience.
Frank's pen-and-ink and brush styles, plus the ballpoint
pen, are each represented. A chapter devoted to painting shows two complete
works from start to finish. The process of the cover painting is revealed in
detail, followed by a second radiant woman in oils. Examples of his work being
digitally colored are also included.
There are four editions of Drawing Beautiful Women,
designed to meet the budgetary criteria of the working student and then move on
up to those who are looking for something extra-special. Two publisher's editions,
including a deluxe limited edition, are extra-spiffy and include bonus
material. These two will only be available direct from Cho and Flesk
Publications.
Those who support the Kickstarter campaign with a book
pledge will receive unique and free bonus material, starting with an exclusive
print. If the book is funded and the support continues, we have a number of
stretch goals in mind to increase the value of your rewards.
"Flesk Publications, in a word, is 'quality,'"
shares Frank. "I've known John Fleskes of Flesk Publications for about ten
years and have noticed and respected his pursuit of perfection and integrity in
everything he has produced. Although John Fleskes is a publisher, he is in many
ways an artist in his own right. Like an old school artisan, he will handcraft
every book he produces. John was on my short list of people that I wanted to
work with for years. And this art instruction book project was a perfect
fit."
"Besides Frank being an honest-to-goodness great guy
and my looking forward to working with him," begins John, "I consider
him to be the rare artist who can be creative in a variety of forms at a superb
level. Frank is also an accomplished writer, which is a skill that allows him
to clearly communicate how he draws and paints in this book. We've talked over
the years about the possibility of working together. When Frank brought up this
book idea, I immediately got excited about it. I love seeing the process of an artist.
I'm very passionate about this book and how it will document Frank properly in
a high-quality art book format that will preserve his knowledge for generations
to come."
